Lydney's
hospital is on the edge of the town, on a hill overlooking the River
Severn. Lydney is only 8 miles from Dilke but has evolved a different approach
and a different role for Pip.
I was surprised that the NHS does not have a common template for how its hospitals operate and the services they employ - many of its sites having quirks and peculiarities that have rooted themselves over time, and will probably be slow to change.
Pip's work at these outliers involves a number of tasks which are common to the ward rounds of the clinical pharmacists at GRH - patient's discharge prescriptions are checked, stock levels are monitored, and the bedside drug chart is monitored for allergies, interactions and administrative errors.
